Word of the Week: Perception

From a distance, a "time out" from our usual routine thoughts... what do we perceive?

"Perception appears to be automatic, but in fact it is a learned phenomenon. The world you live in including the experience of your body, is completely dictated by how you learned to perceive it. If you can change your perception, you  change the experience of your body and your world."

from the book: Ageless Body. Timeless Mind by Deepak Chopra

What a hopeful and inspiring message this is.

This is a book I would highly recommend. Written several years ago (perhaps there is an updated edition?) the insights and wisdom of the author still rings true. I am just finishing this book; it was not a quick read. A wealth of information to digest and consider throughout.

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Perception makes a big difference in how we look at and react to situations. I would definitely read this book too. This is a great post and word to think about this week.

I read that book several years ago and it did take me quite a while to finish it. There were many thoughts and ideas to ponder. I think it widened my universe.

Hi Joe, It's a good reminder for me too. Perception plays such an important role in how we react to every minute of every day, no matter what a day brings, good and bad. I'm going to be keeping this word in mind all week and hopefully beyond.

Hi Diana, I can understand that. It's a book that I've read in small sections so that I could really think about what the author was trying to convey and to teach. I thought it was very good for the most part and it has given me a lot to think about and try to improve upon too.Nice to see you here again and good luck with the contest!

Hi Margie, We should be sharing the same book shelves Margie, we've read so many of the same books it seems and certainly some that have been around for a long time, not just the latest. Great to read that you enjoyed this book too.

Hi Sandy, Oh that's a sad comment to read. I've left a comment in reply at your blog, take care friend.

Hugs and Happy Week, G :<)

The best book I read that changed my perception of things was Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking. He also wrote a few other books and I plan to read them too. He was instrumental in changing the way I percieve smoking and smokers. I'm the last person to ever think my perception of things could be changed but they sure were after reading that book. Maybe I should get the Easy Way to Lose Weight by him as well!! :)

Such a great reminder...our thoughts and perceptions are what we exude.

This is a good reminder to me as I start my week.

Thank you!

Hi Cathy, Sounds like a great book. I've never been a smoker (high school doesn't count right!!) but the addictive properties of smoking are carried over for other people in other ways, I think. Not the physical addiction but in the other ways. Probably a book that could be helpful for other addictions too, judging by what you've said. Thanks!

Hi MWW, Welcome to Happy Break. I'm so glad you enjoyed this post.

Hi Lorraine, You are a wealth of knowledge my dear. My "must read" list is getting longer by the week. Ill add these to it. thanks L.

Happy Tuesday, G :<)
