Let It Go!

*life deals yet another 22
*dark days of despair become the norm
*sunshine has left the sky; silver linings hard to find
*no one seems to notice when you do the “right” thing
*the bills arrive on time; THE cheque doesn’t
*when a friend betrays a confidence
*a family member let’s us down
*when someone else gets the promotion
*dinner is a disaster, in spite of best efforts
*another “winner” chosen for the contest
*when someone you care about is hurt for no reason
*the newspaper stuns with a front page of doom/gloom
*the bank account seems to have dwindled overnight
*the will to try just once more is just not there…
*a perfect 21 is also in that deck
*it is always darkest before the dawn
*the sun always shines, who needs a lining!
*YOU always knows you’ve done the “right” thing
*the bills can wait one more day, the cheque IS in the mail
*maybe they weren’t that good of a friend after all
*forgive and forget is easier than bearing a grudge
*the job might not be the best for you upon closer scrutiny
*be thankful for food on the table and a second chance
*another contest is out there and it is YOURS
*to be sensitive to those in need is a gift. give it, often
*what about the “feel good” stories. they are there too.
*feel blessed to have a bank account with any money in it
*the best way to begin, is to begin; inspiration will follow
This is a poem I wrote a few years ago.
I was thinking about it again this past week and thought that the phrase: "let it go" would be a good thought/mantra to share. Sometimes, that's all we can do, isn't it?
Here's the link to the original post with reader's comments.
Have a wonderful week. :<)

I love this poem, and it is one of my favourites from your poetry book.
I agree that "letting it go" can be sometimes the best solution, and can give peace to a difficult situation.
It is something I am just beginning to practise more and more as I get older, I think.
Good post, Geraldine!

This is a wonderful poem and so true. We do have to let things go when difficult situations come along. So much better than dwelling on them. Good advice here.

Hi Brenda, Thanks Brenda. I'm glad you are enjoying my book. Isn't that the truth about letting go. I've been trying to keep these lines in mind a lot more recently. I've got several things I need to "let go" of.

Hi Joe, Thanks Joe. What can ya do? If we don't let go things just eat away at us to no avail.

Hi Mama, Thanks for stopping by. I love your avatar image btw.

Hi Lorraine, I'm so glad this helped a bit. Take care friend.

Happy week, G :<)

Hi Brian, thanks for your kind words. We really do have to remember to "color" our lives with gold and light don't we? It is always there, even on the darkest of days.

Hi Lorraine, Just don't give up Lorraine. And try to find some good in every day, every experience. I KNOW, I really do...know how hard life can be and I know you're struggling with so many hardships but don't give up. And at the end of every day, try to "let it go" when it comes to the negative thoughts and issues that came up. It all helps. Take care.

I've been working on letting go, very hard, and the knife in my heart has started painlessly to leave..leaving only a few drops behind...You are an inspiration, and I can't thank you enough for every words that has let light in, I Thank God for you, and hope you get more happiness than you can handle, no worries you can share it, as you do everything that is good about you x

Hi Lorraine, You touch my heart with your kind and thoughtful words. I wish you all the happiness in the world, in return.

I've been reading about the connections between negative thoughts, anger, rage...and our physical bodies and there is a strong relation/effect/bond that makes it even more important to acknowledge our anger etc..but then let it go. If we can change something that's bothering us, we need to do what we can. But if we can't, that's ok too. Acknowledging the problems is important but then it's what we do after that that really makes the difference, mentally, physically, emotionally...

Hope this helps a bit. I need to learn these things, again and again...
