Spring Is On My Mind

It’s coming.

The quickening pace.

The earthy fragrance of the still frozen, yet warming soil.

The underground network of vines.

Forgotten seeds and  satiny bulbs….wait.

Wait for the soft touch of the sun-fairy’s magic wand.

Shifts everywhere.

The horizon, the sun.

Birds return. Water rises. Animals venture out.

Earth awakens slowly. One eye open, then the other.

The promise: again renewed.

Life sustained.

As we gratefully anticipate, another spring.

A poem that I recently wrote to welcome this spring.

The emerging season, full of promise and on my mind throughout the days.

Hugs and Happy Spring!

Hi Geraldine, It can't come soon enough to suit me! I'm a spring baby and it's my favorite time of year. it's been a long hard winter this year. Can't wait for the warm breezes!

Hi Cathy, I'm a spring baby too (April) so I also love spring and all that it represents. Warm breezes on the way...

Hi Sandy, You are so kind Sandy, thanks for your kind words and continued support, you're a star!

Hi Teri, And I am so glad you are enjoying happy breaks over here too. I loved sharing one of your mandalas this week, thanks again. Beautiful work.

Hi Shail, Glad you could stop in and thank you.

Happy St. Paddy's Day and best of luck! G

Geraldine,
I like this poem, it clearly and vividly describes how Spring feels, especially here, where spring can be gradual, but Oh So Welcome!!

We're fortunate that the snow is melting, then freezing over and over again, so there's not too much water rising on the streets, and in the basements, as it could have as we've had a record snowfall this year. I'll have to wander over to the creek soon, I'll bet it WILL rise!

Happy Spring!
Thank you for the sense of spring you've shared here!
Brenda

P.S. As a spring baby, I have often connected sprintime with a sense of celebration and gift as well!

There is something so energising about seeing those first shoots and hearing the calls of the birds returning. It is as if a little bit of magic is happening right in front of us. Love it!

Hi Brenda, We are both spring babies aren't we! What a great time to join the human race eh? I think it's why I love April and rain and the early flowers sooo much. I'm glad it's warming up out there, spring can come very late on the Prairies, I remember it well.

Hi Sel, And you head into Autumn, that seems so strange from here but I love Autumn so it's a great season to think about too. Was it a very hot summer again this year down under?

Happy Week, G
