A Tribute to Daffodils!

This beautiful classic poem  by William Wordsworth always comes to mind, this time of year. Hope you enjoy re-reading it too. Many years ago, I lived on a Daffodil Crescent. My mom loved daffodils. And I've been a daffodil lover for a long, long time too. Like sunflowers, their sunny "faces" always seem so happy!

Wishing you a happy, sunny day!

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed–and gazed–but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Geraldine, This is so nice!
I like daffodils too, and remember the first year living in Vancouver, and seeing huge expanses of them, very pretty.
I always thought Daffodil Crescent was a good name.
Thanks for the poem by Wordsworth.

I had forgotten how beautiful his poetry is and this was perfect for spring. Those daffies are gorgeous! Not daisies but gorgeous! lol

I remember this poem when I was a child, one that we learned in school. I liked it then and I still like it now. A perfect poem for spring.

Hi Brenda, I wondered if you'd remember the name of the street? Your family had a nice one too! I always love an expanse of daffodils as you put it, great waves of golden blooms, so amazing and uplifting too.

Hi Teri, It really is a lovely poem isn't it? I took the time to re-read it a few times yesterday. One of the nice things (there are so many) about blogging, having the opportunity to re-read and enjoy again, some of our favorite things. Lots more flowers on the way here,including many daisies.

Hi Joe, We took this poem in school too, one of my favs then and now.

Happy Week, G
